We live in a time where you can buy almost everything you need online. With just one click, your purchase can be waiting at your doorstep the next day—or even the same day. Yet, even though this feels like the norm, there are still some surprising challenges that remain unfamiliar.

How do consumers respond to the question, 'What should I do when I really want to eat delicious fruit?' Of course, the answer might be the big platforms we're all familiar with, but on the other hand, many consumers are still trading directly with farmers through Naver Cafes or Bands, exchanging account numbers and shipping details to buy produce—sometimes in hundreds of thousands of transactions each month. This isn't just about convenience anymore. It's a new kind of commerce centered around trust and freshness of the food.

Lapotable wants to meet these customer needs through a service called 'Paldogam.' Instead of generic 'E-Mart melons,' we offer high-quality melons delivered directly from Gyeongbuk Seongju farmer Park Jeong-ja, connecting customers to the source. Just 3-4 weeks after launching, the service received an explosive response and claimed first place in its field on the Play Store. We’re always thinking about how to deliver the very best food to our customers. Although we strive to be reasonable, we don't insist on always being the cheapest or the fastest. This is what makes us a bit different from other commerce companies.

Behind this team’s direction and growth is the DNA of ‘Queen It,’ a leader in 4050 women’s fashion. What started as a side project at Lapo Labs—relentlessly solving the online shopping needs of those in their 40s and 50s—was spun off due to its unique identity and promising market size, quickly attracting institutional investors, including Base. The customer-centered mindset and rapid growth DNA of the team are seamlessly carried over into the Paldogam service as well.

To circle back, we decided to invest, believing that this team could answer, 'What should I do when I crave truly delicious fruit?' faster and better than anyone else. Base stands alongside the Lapotable team as they work to find the answer to that question.
